I Could Never Be Your Woman Brings in $25.1 MillionAmy Heckerling’s $30-million romantic comedy I Could Never Be Your Woman, starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Paul Rudd and Tracey Ullman (to which Blue Rider funded a Working Capital Loan) grossed $3.84 million in its first week of DVD rental (Feb. 11-17), ranking #10 in North America. After seven weeks (through Mar. 30, 2008) it had brought in $15.51 million in rentals and ranked #50 among rental DVDs.
Worldwide gross, including foreign boxoffice and North American DVD was $25.074 million through April 12, 2009.
As of April 12, 2008, it had screened in 29 countries in Europe, South America, Asia and Africa, with a total foreign theatrical boxoffice gross of $9,569,470.
In three months on Mexican screens it had grossed $1,598,354, and it had brought in $1,194,232 in its three-month Brazilian run. It grossed $629,098 in Poland, $596,569 in Belgium/Luxembourg, $533,676 in Portugal/Angola, $393,980 in Russia/CIS, $357,104 in Turkey, $302,572 in Argentina, $204,516 in Hungary, $192,542 in Hong Kong, $176,894 in Greece, $170,045 in The Netherlands, $160,107 in Peru and $142,461 in Italy. On April 12, 2009 it was still screening in Bolivia.
In July 2007 it opened at #2 in Spain, behind Spider Man 3.
Through June 17, 2008, nearly 72.9% of the 2,896 people who rated it at The Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com) gave it positive ratings, with 12.1% rating it a perfect 10. All demographic groups liked it, with the most enthusiastic being females 17 and younger (rating it 8.1 out of 10), males 17 and younger (7.0), and women 45 and older (6.8). Women liked it more than men did.
